Big Floods Hit Hawaii
Heavy rain has caused serious flooding in Hawaii, a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean. The islands of Oʻahu and Maui were affected the most. In just a few days, huge amounts of rain fell, much more than usual. The ground could not absorb all the water, so it quickly spread across towns and neighborhoods, covering roads, homes, and fields.
The floods were very powerful and dangerous. Water rushed through streets like fast-moving rivers, pushing cars and damaging buildings. Many families had to leave their homes to stay safe. Rescue teams worked hard to help people who were trapped, using boats and helicopters to bring them to safety. Thousands of people were evacuated to safer places. The good news is that no deaths have been reported, and many people were helped in time.
Now, the storm is calming down, and the rain has started to stop. Floodwaters are slowly going down, but the damage is still very serious. People are returning to their homes to clean up mud and fix what was broken. Roads and buildings will take time to repair. Even though this was a scary event, people are supporting each other and working together to rebuild their communities.
