Part 1 — Why Is the President of the United States So Powerful?
The President of the United States is powerful because the job comes with very big responsibilities, and the decisions made by the president can affect many people in the United States and in other countries too.
Who is the President of the United States?
The United States of America is a large country made up of 50 states. To help the whole country work together, the people choose one main leader, called the President. Right now, the president is Donald Trump. The president works from a famous building called the White House and represents the United States when making important decisions.

WHY does the U.S. President have so much influence?
1. Because the president is in charge of the military. The president is the leader of the U.S. armed forces. This means the president can give orders to soldiers whose job is to protect the country. This power is used during emergencies and serious situations to help keep people safe.
2. Because the United States is a strong and important country. The United States has many people, advanced technology, and a strong economy. What happens in the U.S. can affect other countries, so many nations pay attention to what the U.S. president says and does.
3. Because the United States does a lot of business with other countries. The United States buys and sells many things with other countries, such as food, fuel, and everyday products. Decisions made by the president can affect money, jobs, and supplies in many parts of the world.

WHY doesn’t the president get to decide everything alone?
Even though the president is powerful, the president does not make all decisions alone. The president must share power with Congress, which is a group of people who help make laws for the United States. Congress meets in a building called the Capitol. They talk about new rules, vote on them, and check important decisions made by the president. This sharing of power helps make sure decisions are fair and that no one person has too much control.
