Singapore’s Buildings Are Lighting Up at Night
This week, parts of Singapore are glowing with colourful lights and moving pictures after the sun goes down. Buildings, walls, and open spaces have been transformed into bright and playful artworks that families can enjoy together.

This is happening because of a special event called Light to Night, a festival where artists use light instead of paint to create art. Instead of drawing on paper or canvas, artists shine lights, colours, and images onto buildings and outdoor spaces.

Many of these light artworks can be seen around the National Gallery Singapore and nearby areas. Some artworks stay still, while others move or change colours, making the city feel alive at night.
Artists use light because it is easy to see in the dark and can glow, move, and change very quickly. Light can help tell stories, show feelings, and make people curious about the world around them. At night, light art stands out even more, turning ordinary buildings into something special.

This event is especially fun for families. People can walk around together, look up at the lights, and talk about what they see. Light to Night shows that art does not have to stay indoors. It can be part of everyday life and shared by everyone. By lighting up the city, the event helps people see Singapore in a new and exciting way.
