    An electric eel is covered with thousands of special cells called electrocytes. Think of each cell as a tiny battery.     The electricity from an electric eel can reach up to 600 volts. That is five times stronger than the electricity in a wall socket at home. The eel uses this power to stun fish and other prey, making them easier to catch. It also helps the eel navigate murky water and scare away predators.
