    When you watch astronauts floating inside a space station, it looks like magic. They glide through the air, flip upside down, and catch floating droplets of water. But why does this happen?

    Many people think astronauts float because there is no gravity in space. That is not quite right! Gravity is everywhere in space. In fact, gravity from Earth is what keeps the space station and astronauts moving in a big circle around our planet.

    The real reason astronauts float is because they are constantly falling. The space station is falling toward Earth all the time. But it is also moving forward so fast that as it falls, it keeps missing the Earth. This is called being in orbit. Imagine throwing a ball so hard that as it falls down, it keeps going around the planet instead of hitting the ground.

    Inside the space station, the astronauts are falling at the exact same speed as everything around them. When you and your spaceship are falling together, it feels like floating. Scientists call this weightlessness or microgravity.

    So astronauts are not escaping gravity at all. They are just falling in the most amazing way possible, going around and around Earth while feeling like they can fly!
